Ronan, MT

Sally Ann Jackson, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Luke Community Nursing Home in Ronan, MT.

Sally was born on September 28, 1936, in Ravalli, MT, to Charles and Helen Harball. She grew up on a cattle ranch near West Yellowstone, living “out in the bush”. One of eight children, Sally cherished growing up in a large family and enjoyed the simple, rural lifestyle and the many outdoor activities that came with it. She especially loved gardening and fishing and was happiest when she was outdoors.

Sally attended school in West Yellowstone and graduated from Polson High School in 1954. On January 13, 1955, she married James “Lloyd” Jackson. They shared 69 years of marriage before Lloyd passed away in 2024. Together, they raised three sons, Jim, Jeff, and Dan.

Sally worked as a telephone operator in Polson for five years. After having children, she chose to stay home and devote herself to raising her family. She had a natural love for children and babysat for numerous families throughout the years.

Sally found great joy in being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved writing poems, going to rummage sales, and spending time with her family. She also had a special love for dogs, especially her beloved, Tasi and Chance.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Harball; brothers Gordon, Jerry, and Larry Harball, and Merritt and Dale Murphy; sisters Peggy Cantrell and Vera Perry; grandsons Kimo Jackson and Chris Weivoda; and daughter-in-law Leila.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Harball; sons, Jim, Jeff (Lorey), and Dan; grandsons, Kono (Amanda), Niko (Kirsten), Sean (Karsyn), Eddie (Megan), and Beau (Amy); granddaughter, Catherine (Eddie); and great-grandchildren, Avah (Zevan), Cooper, Aubrey, Epiffany, Suraiya, E.J., Brodie, and Harper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sally will be remembered for her love of family, her appreciation for the outdoors, her caring heart, and the simple joys she found throughout her life. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory and carry her love with them always.

A graveside service for Sally will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ronan Cemetery. A service of remembrance will follow at the Ronan Indian Senior Center at 12 Terrace Lake Rd E, Ronan, MT.
